Mobile Home
Makeover Hallway: Page 2.This older 70's Mobile Home was built solid and we were gearing towards a more cost effective finish to this home. In this photo the refridgerator has been moved from under the cupboards to along the main wall that flows into the long hallway that mobiles had in those times. By moving the fridge along the main wall and placing a freezer in it's original location, gave a more open look to the kitchenette area. The small kitchen, now appears brighter and more open, especially from where this pic is taken, on the dining side. It also blocked off the main wall hallway, on the opposite side, making it more distinctively, the Kitchen Area. |
With the fridge off to the left and the open space left by the freezer in replacement, a more open and even flow of the room areas are distinct. We wanted to make sure that we weren't blocking any natural light and at the same time, we wanted to direct what lighting there was, to the distinct area needed in the small kitchenette. The larger display below, rather captures the play of light that is reflected from the fridge, off the window that is located over the sink, on the opposite wall. Drywall Plaster was used to repair cracks and knicks from over time. The next step for this area, is wall prep and a paint job. |
This view displays how the fridge and side counter make a turning point at the end of the (dark)lengthy hallway.
The small window beside the counter is opposite another window, sorta viewable in the pic above, behind, Josi of Walls N All Drywalling. The opposite window is over the sink and allowed for plenty of day time lighting from both sides of this area. The brighter reflection on the fridge door, is the upper aluminum plate along the stove top panel! Notice how dark it is at the end of this hallway even though there is lighting from the small window. The next pics, show how the walls down the hallway were cut and the walls were opened up into the add-on laundry room and family room. The laundry room had a large double window facing SouthWest, allowing for plenty of afternoon sunlight. The only concern with this was to block out the Summer Sun and open it up to the Winter Sun View Hallway MakeOver |
